Mang Tha, meaning “Sweet Dreams” in Lai, is a social development project to empower Myanmar’s Chin Refugee Women by teaching them income-generating skills.
The women are taught sewing, knitting and embroidery. With these skills, the women merge traditional art with modern contemporary designs to produce women’s and men’s accessories, home and living products and decorative items. The women are also taught how to become business savvy e.g. to promote and market their crafts.
Mang Tha employs fair trade practices, providing skills training and a steady source of income to the disadvantaged women.
