Artisans profile

Currently, CCC’s artisans are forest-based indigenous Kreung women and men living in Ratanakiri province, Cambodia.

Kreung artisans are supplying their traditional textiles and crafts to Cando Crafts Center and this Elevyn’s online website. Women artisans weave their traditional textiles, scarves from organic cotton and also synthetic threads. In addition, they also produce natural dye for cotton textiles. From late 2009, they start growing organic cotton aiming to produce organic cotton and natural dye fabrics.

Bamboo and rattan baskets are mostly woven by men artisans while bamboo boxes are woven by women artisans. Back baskets are usually used for farming and household daily activities. At the present, their back baskets are not only produced for household uses, but also for incomes generation.

Supporting their products helps bridge their needs, culture preservation, and forest conservation towards sustainable forest based livelihoods.
