These anting hake' or pandanus earrings have been modified from the Mah Meri's kawang, which are embellishments made by the women to decorate their traditional costumes worn during their mask dance (mayin jo-oh) and weddings.
The motif featured in this pair of earrings is known as pahat, resembling the shape of a mussel that the Mah Meri finds on the coast of the island.
Wonderful for use, or as gifts, these earrings make unique accessories.
