About the SINOMPURU Women's Group
Objectives
1. To improve the standard of living of its members.
2. To maintain the originality of their traditional Rungus motifs.
3. To maintain the sustainability of their natural resources by replanting plants used to make their unique handicrafts such as the talantang and igiu plant.
Besides working together to improve the designs and quality of their handicrafts, SINOMPURU also has a community fund where 5% from every sale of their handicrafts goes to this fund. From this fund:
1. Each time a member is admitted to the hospital, money is taken out as donations for their medical and food expenses.
2. Members can borrow money from the fund to pay for their childrens' school fees and other schooling expenses.
3. Members can also borrow money to buy beads to make their handicrafts.
